To clarify, I don't like designs that seem arbitrarily slapped on. There
are elements of bric-a-brac on the Red Frame Manga Astray, but they flow
well with the aesthetics in my opinion. The opposite example is the F90
Gundam. It just seems slapped together. The elements aren't cohesive
amongst themselves.

No doubt, for sure I see your point!

Most of my memory around F-90 are based on finding a few F-90 kits at Books
Nippan in New York when they were 1st released...back then I was starved for
anything Gundam (or even anime related in general...) so that probably colored
my perception quite a bit....for the record I do like Turn-A, it's one of the
best Gundam series IMHO (after 1st Gundam of course...) Design-wise, I just
don't like that mustache on the Gundam...

Yes I totally agree with your critique of Astray and to add further, to me the
strongest unifying element in that aesthetic is Lowe Gear himself...every mod,
addition, temporary pack etc...is testament to Lowe and his MAD Junker
skills...and of course his dedication to/love for, his Astray Red-Frame. It
remins me of Bit Cloud in Zoids-Zero...everyone sees their Zoid as a piece of
machinery, except Bit, he treats Liger-Zero like a pet, even taking it out for
a run each day.

Glad to see Gunota posted that we finally Get Astray-X this fall!
