That is what George said in the commentary. He cleared it up because people
never got what he was trying to get across. How can you assume what he
meant in the first place?
That's the sad part. Lucas getting himself sucked into low level
technobabble. What happened to The Hero With a Thousand Faces?
It's the same pattern between SW, Gundam and Matrix, when sequels (and
"Special" editions) were made, new problems are created while old
problems or loose ends remain unresolved or made even worse. In the
end, the brilliance and impact of the original is diluted to
nothingness.
