I not doubting you and in fact I pretty much agree with you, I just want reasons why you think SEED would have worked as a "kids" show?

Was anything major changed with the first two Special Editions?
Side Note: I don't keep up on this kind of stuff, but was the
character designer changed for Stargazer versus regular Seed?
The reason I ask is because it seems like the characters have real
faces now instead of just eyes and a mouth.

I've only seen the first one and it just cut out a lot of the stuff
you didn't need. I did see some screen shots of the second one and it
didn't look like much was changed.

Yeah. Unfortunately, it's also pretty disappointing to have a dream
come so close (for me it is Zeta on US TV), then fail because of
some really bad decisions on the part of Bandai and CN.

Yeah it's really bad marketing decisions. Wing and G seemed to do well
on children's time slots on CN but the rest should've aired on the
Adult Swim block. Well, I think this should've happened for at least
SEED. It was edited horribly and moved from 10:30pm on Saturday to
like 1:30am on Friday. Right now Eureka Seven (another mecha show) is
doing quite well (I think) on Adult Swim. I'm sure it would've worked
fine for SEED too.

On the contrary, I think the main reason Gundam Seed failed on CN was because it wasn't treated like Wing or G. Seed is just as much a 'kids show' as Wing or G was, even more so in my opinion. CN should have aired it 4 or 5 times a week at 3 or 4 PM like it did with Wing and G. Airing it at 10:30 at night on saturdays? When either people are out of the house, and at a time when much of the target audience should be in bed? Insanely dumb decision. Pushing it back by a few hours? Even worse. But by then the damage was done. Worst of all is the fact that they only aired it once a week. Seed is a slow enough show already, doing that pretty much killed any chances of large audiences sticking around. Seed never should have been on Adult Swim. Bandai and CN have no one to blame but themselves for the Gundam fiasco. Its unfortunate. CN killed the golden goose. Wing and G were hits. Despite the fact that I think the show is horrible, I have little doubt that Seed would have been a hit had they aired it like they did with Wing and G. Now we likely won't see Gundam on US TV again, thanks a lot CN!

Farewell Boaz, its been great talking with you here on GML the last few years, you will be missed!
