How sad it has become, in a way I respect what NGE should have or

a dark alley and did unspeakable abuses to him, and we are left with a
poorly made kiddie porn.
I actually liked Evangelion at first. And then they pulled that stupid
ending crap. And honestly, after a while, I found Shinji to be
unearable. He's like, the first emo (in a bad way) hero. Heck, he makes
Shinn look darn good (no offense to people who like Shinn, but i find it
hard to believe that he could be so naive after all that training in the
military).
Ahhh... I had a point back there... right. At least I respect one
thing: Anno didn't make any sequels. He (or someone) could have made
a mint, perhaps even a Gundam-rivaling franchise out of the success of
NGE. Whatever quality or flaws there were in the original NGE, it's
not distorted twisted or corrupted by the sequels.
Amen. One of my real problems with Gundam is that if one is to make a
continuity (meta-series), there comes a time where you simply...run out
of space. Gundam is coming close to that, in my view (though of course,
this can be expanded much more if they get rid of the spike-headed
prototypes and just concentrate on a little more grunt action...). One
can only have so many secret projects before it becomes ridiculous. That
being said, though, I find that I like the AoZ mecha in themselves. From
a timeline point of view, as well as weapons design...they kinda bend a
lot of the continuity.
In the same way, G and W may end up in a higher place in my heart than
UC. Normally I would never even put G/W and First Gundam in the same
sentence, but each new sequel (Unicorn), game (Target in Sight) and
model line (AoZ) erode just a little bit more off First Gundam. For
Wing, the Gundams were shot into the Sun and we will never see another
Gundam again. For G, well technically a sequel is possible, but it's
guaranteed to be dog-puke so let's hope we will never see the day.
I would love to see a G Gundam sequel, but I have to admit...it's an
iffy proposition. I've been watching a lot of fight anime (like Ghost
Fighter, Flame of Recca, Naruto and Dragonball) lately, and I think that
G Gundam made for a good series precisely because it just took the fight
anime, mooshed it together with Gundam, and then added a lot of
Combattler/VoltesV/Daimos story themes into it so much that it became a
brilliant parody of all the series it took stuff from. If G Gundam comes
back, it either goes for exaggerated retro-pathos (Shin Getta and
Mazinkaiser comes to mind), or it better go into even more fun fight
anime hi-jinks.
