I've ever liked the Dendrobium that much. In my opinion, Its obviously
unwieldy.
From Gundam Official's description, it sounds like a bad ass, ass
kicker but, sheesh!, it sure seems unwieldy!

Speaking of upcoming products...the GFF GP03 stamen's mini dendrobium
is so unbelievably ridiculous. We'll just mount all the dendrobium's
weapons, bell nozzles and i-field directly to the stamen. Yep, no
need for that big mobile armor frame with all that space for
generators, fuel and what-ever gizmos that made the overpowered big D
somewhat believable.
LOL, an onion is in the eye of beholder... ehhh... nevermind...
I was actually about to write that "they finally figured out what to
do with Dendrobium". But, I should have predicted that this would
generate some strong reactions.
I agree with the point that it's not that different from other beloved
monstrosities, from ZZ to Ex-S to Deep Striker. Dendrobium might be a
bit more realistic from a limited point of view (mechanistic), but
that actually makes it the oddity in Gundam multiverse. One of the
reviewers back then said that the quarterdeck is big enough for a
Boston Tea Party (I guess he means it's physically bigger than a
colonial ship). It might be realistic, but Gundam world doesn't
usually leave 40m on a combat craft to be undecorated.
Personally I think my ideal version of Dendrobium would be a bit
beefier than the mini Dendrobium, but definitely nothing close to the
anime version. Perhaps something on the order of the aft module of
G-Falcon as docked with Gundam Double X or Gundam Leopard Destroy.

And a 70m barrel gun will never look right on a 18m MS, no matter how
you dress it. Even Gundam Wing doesn't go so far.

Looking at it from a toy perspective, I suppose a full blown Orchis
would be
too much, especially with the cost of materials for mainstream toy
manufacturing currently.
A GFF Dendrobium would be 1m (3' 4") long and 43cm (17") wide, smaller
than the 1/10 (?) Zaku but probably heavier and definitely more
difficult to display.
That's a good point to bring up. During and immediately after its
release, 0083 was the least merchandise-friendly Gundam series ever
made. If you count only the model kits during and immediately after a
series release, 0083' (4 kits) is still the worst series ever, but
far. The runners-up, if I'm not mistaken, would be Turn-A (~8), 08MST
(~6), 0080 (~7), CCA (~9?). You might say the 0083 producers were
pretty courageous to stage a final battle scene between two
unmerchandisable MA's.
