I would imagine that Ali's new ride has some systems that the superpowers might 
be interested in better understanding.  For instance, the "Claws" (i.e. the 
bits) are something completely new.  Plus, given that there are only a limited 
number of GN drives on Earth, getting a new one by confiscating Ali's would 
represent a big jump in combat power.

 

I think at the moment one of the plot lines that I'm most interested in is the 
conversion by Billy and Graham to the Overflag so that it can use the new GN 
drive.  Even though it's a long process, and Graham is basically side-lined 
while it takes place, something keeps telling me that it's going to be 
important.

Since the Throne Furnaces are the same defective ones as the GN-X has I 
don't see why the UN would bother to take it apart.
