milton:
your disappointing me again here !!
for someone whose academic reputation is proportedly founded on accurate
research and interpretation, you are stepping way out-of-bounds here milton.
1. the meeting was not run by CORE members (on the contrary i was not even
informed of the original barcelona meeting until 2 days after it had been
proposed). the meeting was hosted by fundacion' catalon (i believe) and had
rotating moderators from korea, gahna,CENTRE etc (none of whom i recall were
core members). amadeu who helped cordinate the meeting is a core member but
to the best of my knowledge he was the only core member who was actively
involved in the hosting effort.
2. the largest group of attendees were from various cctlds, (yep CORE was
there as was an EU observer & ORSC was represented in the person of jay
fenello and invites were also made to NSI and multiple other entities and
organizations. an open invitation was also posted to the ifwp list as well..
(but you that already didn't you milton)
3. with respect to the hosting of the web site and the list ... get back on
your meds milton !!!
this "website &list paranioa" going on out there is getting really silly
so is this current trend to "c/c the whole world on every message".
people are taking public "cheap shots" at various web host & list managers
who are providing volunteer efforts and frankly taking more crap than they
deserve. if you want to get involved in a list just ask !! if someone denies
you entry then you can whine, carp & moan. (by the way i havent seen
syracuse univ offering space or bandwidth to any group like harvard. why is
that milton ?.. maybe you aren't willing to take some of that same heat !!)
4. you comments and suggestions become significantly less valuable when
preceeded each time by snide remarks designed to "get someones goat" or
humiliate someone. but frankly milton, i think you do it for just that
reason. just to stirr up the old pot and keep the process drawn out a bit
longer so you can keep the spotlight on yourself a bit longer.
