}There seems to be a lot of confusion about what the proposed contract with
}ICANN covers. As I indicated to Stef last night, authority over the
}authoritative root remains with the United States government. NSI is
}currently serving as the administrator for the primary root server for the
}root server system and as root zone administrator under contract with and
}direction from the USG (see Amendment 11 to the Cooperative Agreement,
}dated 10/7/98 and posted at www.ntia.doc.gov.) The proposed contract with
}ICANN does not change this arrangement in any way.
