Although some may properly argue this issue wasn't
squarely before the court, the treatment of NSI
accurately as a private party with a cooperative
agreement with NSF, autonomously providing DNS
related services, means NSI should enjoy the same
rights as all the other several thousand entities
that retained all of their rather substantial
assets when their agreements ended.

Perhaps on a larger scale, the decision arguably
was a victory for the notion that the Internet lies
in autonomous private hands and is not under the
control of any one party, along similar lines as Reno.
But others may read it differently.
