It doesn't matter at all, you are quite right. What DOES matter is
that he seems to have stated under oath, in fornt of a Congressional
Committe something which he later stated wasn't true. 

That's perjury, by an officer of the court, no less.

But then that does confirm my opinion of the second oldest profession
in the world.
