Just as an observation, if ISOC folks like Heath and Cerf ran for
ICANN board positions, or endorsed other candidates, my guess is
they'd win.  The reason is because of the large amount of respect they
get from the Internet community.  Granted, not from the entire
Internet community, but from enough of it that people who do not
specifically know any of the history of these proceedings are likely
to vote for ISOC or its candidates.  It's similar to how a war hero
can be elected to public office even though he or she may not be the
"best" candidate in some cosmic sense.  If enough people believe that
a person is capable of doing a good job, and those people vote, they
will be elected.
