I imagine people are able to memorize long names if they want or need to.
People memorized things like 'supercalifragilisticexpialidocious'.  For
that matter, they also seem to be able to get by with things like
mejac.palo-alto.ca.us.  I fail to see how an SLD is eminently more usable
than a 3LD, etc.

Getting back to my original point, I have never heard that anyone was
guaranteed a domain name by virtue of paying taxes for Internet development,
etc.
