Well, that's the key - there's no "coding" for JSMX.. it's literally a call to a function to send data to a CFM file and a way to accept the results back. Everything on the client side is up to you - you write your super fly javascript interactivity separate from the CF code.

And yes, an HTTP sniffer is crucial. For both the ajax work and the XMLRPC work I'm doing for BlogFusion 5.0, I've been using HTTP Analyzer and would have had a near impossible time getting through it without.

I can can concur what Jake said, if I could start again, which I can I guess. I'd look at JSMX. It's a lot ligher and easier to code with than is CFAJAX. One hit if you do start do AJAX coding download an HTTP sniffer like <cough><cough> Microsoft's Fiddler <cough><cough> It helps with debuging any issues you may have.

We're using cfajax right now--it works but it leaves a bit to be
desired. I haven't messed with ajaxcfc yet, but one of the big
advantages is that it doesn't require a virtual directory and has much
better debugging capabilities than cfajax. We're going to move to
something other than cfajax at some point. Given a choice between
just those two I'd go with ajaxcfc.
