Kat It might be good if you can quickly send us the text you're referring to in the draft so that others can read it as it is there.
I just had a look in my print out but don't have time to look it up online right now to post it here. Are you talking about 'related resources' under 'examples of success criterion 1.2.4' ? The 'Related resources' in the draft only relates to ASL (American sign language), so it could be misleading. The guideline should specify use of the native sign language of a country, but how do you implement that effectively on the web, which is global? Gestuno (International sign http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gestuno) would be useless to most deaf IMHO. This is potentially a very, very interesting topic of discussion - just think about how the telephone and other auditory means of communication across borders have influenced the spread of English. I'll have to get back to this tomorrow when I have more time. Any other comments, guys? all the best, Lisa Herrod >-----Original Message----- >From: Katrina [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] >Sent: Friday, 28 April 2006 2:47 PM >To: Web Standards Group >Subject: [WSG] WCAG 2.0 > > >What do people think about the sign language thing? > >Guideline 1.2 sounds a bit suss to me; maybe I have not understood? > >Can someone please explain to me how the audio descriptions of video >provide both level 1 and level 2 compliance? > >Also, how can you get level 3 compliance with an audio description >(1.2.2 and 1.2.3) and a sign-language interpreter (1.2.5), using >American sign language?
