Anyways, do I take it that the bincimap developers don't consider this a
bug and I should plan on fixing it myself if that's what I want?
I imagine it'll get fixed. I don't use .password, so I've never seen the issue. It would be trivial to check and make sure that BincIMAP can open .blah/cur, to verify that it should be a mailbox.
In the grand scheme of things, it is a fairly minor issue, however, and while it would probably annoy me, I would more than likely whip up a fix for it and post a patch. Andreas has done a lot of work on BincIMAP already, and he seems to be working on "greater scheme" features, so a patch to fix a simple bug would help him knock these out quickly and give you something that'll work for you now. Open source projects benefit greatly from others chipping in to help out where they can.
Cheers,
bs.
