We had Solarwinds for a year and got rid of it. We were able to use it to
update our servers with things like Java, Flash, etc. But because we don’t have
any MW’s on our user PC’s, we couldn’t control when those apps got installed
and they would force IE to close without warning when the install took place.
It’s a shame though, it definitely made keeping those apps up to date much
easier.

Home brew is likely to be the cheapest to implement but the running costs will
be quite high.

Secunia is a whole lot more than just a SCUP catalog provider and is more a
standalone product with a console extension in CM.

I don't often come across any of these day to day in my role but one of my
customers is looking to evaluate Solarwinds which I aim to be looking at.

Most of the comments that I see indicate that PMPC is good enough and more
nimble than the big boys - something that you might agree with Andreas

- Shavlik

- SolarWinds

Hey all,

I’m looking for recommendations for an update catalog provider for SCUP/SCCM.
I have about 19,000 active clients and I’m tired of patching 3rd party apps via
full app deployments. I’d love to hear about any experience or suggestions any
of you have.
