The log looks fine from a capture perspective. I would look to network, server,
or possibly VM issues.

Are you using a fixed disk?
Assuming you are using Gen1 since its Win7?
How big is your disk and how big should your image be?
Are you using an IDE disk or SCSI disk?

You could also enable debug logging in WinPE, I haven’t don’t that with a
capture before, but it might give more info.

I hope attachments work. If not let me know. Here is what I can get. It stops
at this point for quite a bit and restarts. This is a Hyper-V VM.

I go them copied out. Issue right now is that I don’t know when it is going to
crash, and all the logs so far up until it reboots look good.

I've never seen this logs return "in use message"

You should be able to copy them without any problem but are in a temp folder at
this stage.

If it stuck in use.
Open it.
Copy and paste to a new notepad.
Save to USB key or map a drive back to your own pc and save it to your own pc.

what says it's in use ? press f8, browse to x:\windows\temp\smstslog\ and copy
the smsts*.log files in there to a usb key or elsewhere

when it's in Windows PE, can you grab the smsts.log file then, (press f8) and
attach it here

The sysprep logs show no errors. The smsts log (on the C drive) stops when the
PC reboots and everything is good there. I can’t get a log from when it’s
booted to PE. I can browse to it in command line, but can’t open it since it’s
in use. The PC just turns off, so it doesn’t fail to the point I can even get
to the log. What I do is build up a Win7 VM and once it is all complete I boot
off of a capture disc made in SCCM. Once it autoruns I put in file name,
locations and what not and hit go. Looks like it wants to start scanning the
hard drive once it gets to PE but no progress is show and eventually just
reboots.

'and then go to capture'
how ? using capture media or ? did you look at what the smsts.log file said or
for that matter the logs here

C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep\Panther

  *   setupact.log
  *   setuperr.log

Sometime in the past couple months (I’m pointing at you R2 SP1?) I can’t
capture any images. It syspreps and boots into PE and sits a bit and then
reboots without capturing anything. I have a 1kb file in the share and a PC
that boots back up to a OOB experience. Anyone come across something like
this? I don’t use a build and capture TS, I build it by hand and then go to
capture.

Help!
