I'm assuming you've used the Axe controller software successfully **prior**
to testing the terminal programs. On other projects I have seen what appears
to be intelligent information coming from a device, but it was in fact
gibberish interpreted by the terminal program. This was due to incorrect
comm settings on one end or the other.

There's nothing like a third party, in this case a serial snoop device, to
ensure that everyone is on the same page and speaking the same dialect. :-)
