Yes, I think 4 AWG would be a little lightweight, but a couple of things to
consider if you still have lots of 4 AWG and connectors in hand. Motorcycles
don't usually have very much cable in them. I have a total of about 6 feet, so
even with a smaller guage your power loss might be insignificant. Also you can
always double up wire, so you could just use two strands of 4 guage. When I
first wired up my motorcycle I was using 4 guage, but that was a very early
version and I was running a 275 amp Curtis controller. I never had any
problems with the 4 guage, but when I was redoing things I just figured getting
a little more copper in the system would be good.
