Yeah its a /7. I'll check on the drive shaft lube. I recall hearing a lot about splines and such with these. My only experience is with the /2s.

I appreciate all the feedback. I'm intent on getting this thing going. If I need a transmission, it will probably take a while to find one, so I'll continue to experiment with what I have - hopefully without burning up my motor.

hey this is a slash7 right? well read up on greasing the drive shaft and pinion 
if this is your first one.
