I looked your motor up and the 36V info they show correlates well with
my motor. My motor is about 60 lbs. This is encouraging. One thing I
note is the motor curves for my motor show full-load torque at 65Amps.
Perhaps this motor isn't designed to handle higher amps well. Do you
have full curves on your motor? What voltage do you run at?

I am running a ADC AC4-4002 similar to this
http://www.evparts.com/prod-MT2112.htm. The only time I have any
heating issues is if we get enough snow for me to drag the kids around
the cul-de-sac on a sled. Then I am pulling sustained amps at very
low RPMs. It's easy to fix though. I just make the kids scoop up an
armful of snow and pack it on the motor after their ride :-)
How much does your motor weigh? You can tell alot about how much
sustained power a motor can handle by its weight. The more copper
there is the more you can abuse it. Mine is in the 50 pound range.
