Why not just AJAXify your control?

You could simply wrap up the existing functionality inside an Update
Panel.

Of course you'll need to enable AJAX for the SharePoint instance but
it's not too difficult.

Subject: [OzMOSS] Postback when using a tree control on edit view of new
page

Hi All,

I have created a custom field type which is a tree control, and have
addded this to the content-type associated with the page layout used to
create web part pages on our portal. Have added this content-type field
as one one displayed when in the edit mode of the page by adding it to
the "EditModePanel" control in the layout. So far so good.

Unfortunately, when a user then clicks the tree control to expand it,
you get the "Saving page content...." message in the bottom of the
browser window, and then the pop-up message "Are you sure you want to
navigate away from this page?...." .

I assume this is because the control is causing a postback, but he
behviour is quite off-putting for the users, and I can't figure out how
to prevent it.

Any ideas?????

Cheers,
