STAR is associated with Accelerated Reader.  Our Middle School bought into
AR once upon a principal and don't use the AR testing but have retained the
testing.  I have no personal experience, but the MS principal and staff do
not feel it is effective in predicting reading issues.  It is also
computerized, gives reading levels.
