I taught 6th grade last year---my struggling (and reluctant) readers stil love The Outsiders and other SE Hinton books---they also loved Gary Paulsen's Harris and ME and the boys who really struggled with reading loved Paulsen's Midnight River---Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick was a big hit---
>>> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 07/19/07 11:12 PM >>> In the fall I am going to be teaching a middle school (grades 6 to 8) reading class. This is a new class in my building for struggling readers. I'm guessing that many of these students do not know if they have a favor author or a favorite genre. Can you suggest some books that your middle school students (especially struggling readers) have enjoyed? Thanks!
