Great suggestions--and someone observed that it's important to know your kids before recommending a book. Librarians call that doing "Reader Advisory"--and when we connect a kid to just the right book, isn't it gratifying? No one has mentioned the Jack Gants' books about Joey Pigza. Are kids not reading those anymore? I only had one kid opt to read one this year.
Parrot in the Oven by Martinez was a good match for several of my kids--I might consider requesting a class set next year. -- "A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worthwhile." --Herm Alvright, writer. _______________________________________________ The Literacy Workshop ListServ http://www.literacyworkshop.org To unsubscribe or modify your membership please go to http://literacyworkshop.org/mailman/options/lit_literacyworkshop.org.
