Interestingly, I found this attached to the prompt question so I am
changing the subject line to help get Lucinda's question out. Lucinda, I
have incorporated Nanci Atwell's "The Reading Zone" into my classroom. It
has made a huge difference. My kids are reading like never before. I have
eliminated the genre focus to concentrate on book talking as a means for
promoting reading. I also bought new books to enhance my already huge
library. Favorites right now are the Maximum Ride Series by James Patterson,
Books from the Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer, Curious Incident of the Dog
at Night Time by Mark Haddon, and many more. Having my kids for 3 years
tends to deplete my inventory of offerings!
