On a professional reading note, the Mosaic List recently had a team of four
teachers review: "Less is More: Teaching Literature with Short Texts-Grades
6-12" http://www.stenhouse.com/0710.asp (currently the entire book is
available PDF).

The book provides some great ideas as well as resources for using all sorts
of short texts from memoirs to graphic novels. It seems like a really timely
book for teachers that are struggling with reluctant readers or wondering
how to expand their instructional strategies.

Cris Tovani says: "Less Is More is full of powerful ideas for teaching with
short, provocative text. This book broadens and extends our available
teaching tools and materials, and can help engage all students. It is a
valuable resource for language arts teachers."
