Yes, writing is ingrained in the program. There is a separate workbook that includes short stories, fiction and non-fiction. It generally includes open ended questions to answer while reading and at the end there is generally a writing component, a variety of types. This is the tool that is used for small group instruction and is NOT to be used as independent practice.
