I have a suggestion for Little Snitch. A little status icon in the top right of the screen would be nice to see what LS' status is. You will never know if LS is all of a sudden off unless you go check in preferences. It could have a menu that allows you to bring LS forward, add new rule, etc. If this exists and I haven't seen it, then I apologise and please inform me...I haven't explored LS that much and just use it as a general tool but am constantly opening system prefs to confirm it is active. The status icon could also have a warning status to alert you that something is wrong or inconsistent! This status icon should be compulsory and as secure as LS itself so if it's gone, something has seriously gone wrong and you will know! - Any thoughts?
I think little snitch is brilliant. It has holes but there will be few cases that will exploit LS as far as general use goes. As long as there are people out there like you guys who find the holes and research them; there will always be improvements and that's what development is all about. In the world of apple and os x, things are changing constantly...as long as we stay a couple of steps behind the most current software releases(besides security updates, etc), I believe we're in good hands. In my experience, it's mostly the people who jump ahead with the latest releases and upgrades that get burnt. When tiger first came out, there were loads of issues. I still haven't moved to tiger yet but have it ready to install, etc. I have a test installation that I try things out on once in a while but once there LS issues are sorted, I will move over. I always install the latest version of LS though! This is a great forum like tool, great to see your guys thoughts!
