Any 12ga flare gun can handle a light shot gun shell but will you be
able to hold it is the problem. You want a very light shot load so that
is one thing. The plastic guns may be destroyed after one shot but at
least you would have one shot. The stainless ones should be able to
take a lot more abuse. The big thing is going to be controlling that
kick without ripping your arm off. But I would rather have a messed up
arm then be dead.

Does anyone make a 12ga flare gun that will handle shot gun shells? That
seems to be a logical solution.

Merrill,

The problem I see is that the intruder might be in the cockpit when you
needed to get to the gun.
