| Fred Lindow is indeed still in Beaufort. He repaired our stainless steel rail and stern ladder. Fred does excellent work and is THE man in town for steel fabrication. (252) 728-6249. 2933 Highway 70 East, Beaufort, NC 28516 There was one part of the rail he could not fix because he did not have the equipment to get that particular angle. We took that part to a place in New Bern. I hauled out at Bock twice and the yard is very flexible and accommodating. Both times, a loaner car was available for daytime local use. Check with Kenny Bock about your draft relative to the current depth in the haulout slip. We drew 5 feet and always schedule haul out and launch close to high tide. The approach to them was deep enough, it was the haul out area that was the problem. Unless they've dumped a lot of stone since my last visit, the yard gets dusty in dry weather and portions get muddy in the rain. The local water there has a high sulfur content - the smell is unmistable. If you're going to live aboard there, bring your water with you - fill the tanks or get bottled water. We could put up with the smell in the yard showers, but would not put it in our tanks. Another boat on the hard had an external water filter. They did fill their tanks with the water and had no problem because of the filter. Janet -----Original Message----- |
