I tried some generic Foodsaver bag material. It didn't work nearly as
well as the name brand stuff. I have NOT tried ZipLocs, but based on
what I have done I suspect their melting point is too low.

You can get a pretty good price on Foodsaver rolls at Walmart and
(sometimes) Costco. I suspect (although have not compared) that the
price on a roll of Foodsaver material is lower than an equivalent
amount of ZipLoc bags.
