LOL Of course I gave it to her for her cat to keep her (the cat) off the sofa - or I think she (the cat) also had a habit of jumping on the table in the dining room. (Mom always had tortoise shell cats and they are always female.) My dad used a small (hand crank) telephone generator to experiment with electricity, and I remember him in the cellar with all of us in a circle holding hands - Mom included. So I didn't give her a shock - actually I refused to participate - but Dad did. The reason my dad had the generator initially was because his parents had an ice house, and the salt attracted cows from the range (this was in Colorado c 1917) and the cows made cow patties. Cleaning up the cow patties was my dad's job. So my dad put water in a metal tub and when the cows would come to lick the salt, they would then want a drink. When they went to drink he would give the generator a couple of cranks, and the old cow's tail would stick up and they would gallop off. He said it only took once or twice and they stopped coming. > > >On Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at 08:23PM, "Rosalie B." <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >wrote: > >> >>There are Scat Mats which you plug into the house current to give a >>cat that jumps on the sofa (or whatever) a shock.
