I got a myspace account when I took my grandson to Ireland in June 2007. I did
that because I could put pictures of him/us onto my page easily and fairly
quickly so his parents and sister could see what we were doing. The photos of
the children (ages 11-15) were all restricted to 'friends'. I go to that page
periodically do see what some of my grandchildren who also have accounts are
doing. I only have 6 friends - my two grandsons (one of whom I took to the Med
this spring), my granddaughter (the one for the next trip), the parents of the
grandchildren, and one man who was on the Ireland trip with us. Any
communication other than pictures is done by email text file.

I do have Firefox and use it for most applications, and I do have those two
extensions on it. Although generally I don't bother with sites that I have to
have Flash. I run IE only for Ancestry because Firefox freezes when I try to
access that website, although I confess I only have IE 6.0. I don't have
anything fancy on it because I don't use it much. There are still sites that
don't display in Firefox.

I confess that I do not update Windows. I get my email through Forte Agent
which I've been using for a long time - text based. I only use OE in one
instance - I have Agent set not to download more than 350 lines of text. If
someone sends me an exe file or something like a virus or photo (like of a
grandchild), it won't unload the whole thing and I get a bunch of gibberish. If
I see from the text that it is a grandchild photo, I go to OE and download it.
If it is anything else that won't load because it is too big, I just delete it
when I have access to the internet.

Bob is still anti MS and pro CPM - he thinks MS programs are excessively large
and bloated. He's still using an old Epsom computer that is CPM based. Of
course you can't do navigation on it, but in many ways it is more advanced that
the MS computers that we have not.
