I agree, a battery manufacturer would be disinclined to promote
something that would reduce sales,  on the other hand, they should be
interested in promoting an item that would increase customer
satisfaction with their product.  
I am s sucker for gee wizz stuff, but I must admit I am wary of little
sealed boxes that make magical claims. I see a couple of discarded
batteries by the dumpster. I'll put the unit I have on them and see what
happens and report back.
