Another thing I did that might help.

Instead of using the pressure switch that comes built into a domestic water
pump, I used a hardware-store bought pressure switch as used on a shallow
well pump.  The switch contacts are *much* more robust (mine have lasted
nearly 30 years) and it is easily set to a smaller "dead zone" so as to
keep the pressure more uniform.
