Roy,

here is my take, some might disagree, but it has served me well.
My wife bought a Brother laser printer for less than $90. If you can live
with black and white
prints, this is a nice machine (I bought the color version for about $340),
make sure the driver
works for your OS if you want to share it on a network, no problem if it is
hooked up to your
machine. Networking printers is a beach based on XP, Vista, Win7.
I have two perfectly good ink jet printers, free to anyone that wants them.
My problem is that
they dry up and you need two new cartridges every six months, at the cost of
about $72, more
than the original cost of the printer. You need to run an ink jet printer at
least once a month to
prevent this from happening, not always possible, since I switch locations
and the printer might
not be used for two months. None of those problems with a laser printer,
just shake it. :)

Subject: [Liveaboard] Energy Efficient Printers...

Hello Listees,

I'm in the market for a new printer.
Any hands-on recommendations for an energy efficient, low cost per page,
printer ?

Cheers !
Roy
