Alexander, do you mind explaining in a little bit more detail what you mean by 'doing the LiveCD udev transition separately'?

Basically, adding udev rules different from both LFS and CLFS. LFS doesn't get module autoloading right (and, for continuous misunderstanding of this problem, I still think that udev should not be in LFS at all), and CLFS has basic rules too-different from LFS.

I will base my ruleset on the old LFS rules, for best compatibility. Then, I will delete the "iseries" rules because they look wrong (slash in device name) and don't apply on supported architectures, and the "ataraid" rule (because ataraid as a driver is not supported at all in 2.6 kernels and will never be: use device-mapper instead, "dmraid" is already on the CD). Move the "mouse" symlink from the random /dev/input/mouseX to /dev/input/mice. Then I will remove existing hotplug rules and add module loading rules from CLFS.

The kernel will be 2.6.16-rc4 (because of input hotplug and various modaliases) plus a special patch for Jeremy Huntwork, to disable binding of the "tulip" driver to his network card and let "dmfe" do the right thing.
