Hello!
I think this is quite an easy question.
Am I able to build a 64bit system using the livecd and the 64bit system?
echo $MACHTYPE returns i486-pc-linux-gnu, config.guess (like described in the
book)
returns i686-pc-linux-gnu.
AMD Athlon 64 3400+
Do I have to use the CLFS-book?
Am I able to build a 64bit system using the livecd?
Am I able to build a 32bit system using the livecd?
Is anybody out there with a functional build on this architecture?
1) To build a 64-bit system from the CD, you need to follow CLFS, the
"boot" scenario.
2) To build a 32-bit system, you may use either of the LFS and CLFS
books. Note that there are many differences between the books not
related to architecture details or cross-compilation. Try both and
report here.
3) If other LiveCD maintainers agree, the x86-6.2-2 or x86-6.2-3 32-bit
LiveCD will include a cross-compiled 64-bit kernel as an option, so that
the "chroot" scenario in 64-bit CLFS starts working.
Sorry, I cannot release a fully 64-bit LiveCD because I con't have a
64-bit processor.
