Hello,
I get your points and I admit I have no real argument against non-descriptive names.

I liked the "funny abbreviation" thing.
I submit another name for a vote/pros-and-cons-discussion: HoT, Hall of Tones. It gives me the sensation of a large space with tones (sounds) coming from different direction, giving to the composer the ability to tweak them individually and then the sensation of the ensemble, just like an orchestra.

However if you like the recursive abbreviation thing, we can come up with something, since "hot" is a very common adjective...
I don't know... "Hot O... T..."
"Hot Open Timbre" for example, but I don't like it.

For the vote, I'm ok with it, but I would let some more time pass: we may find the perfect name and needn't have done the vote...

Could you explain what benefits do you see of having a descriptive name (as opposed to a non-descriptive one)?

I think that descriptive names tend to sound bad and boring, unless they form a funny abbreviation (like "GIMP" or "GNU").

Maybe it'd be a good direction to join both types:
Descriptive full name + Good sounding abbreviation.

A recursive abbreviation is also a common thing in GNU/Linux World (*GNU = GNU Not Unix* for example)

My example and a new proposal:

*BUSS *as in*BUSS Unison Sound Studio* (hidden meanings: BUZZ, mixer BUS, a kiss (Urban Dictionary states so, that's not much wanted by me, but I'm okay with it - reminds me of Love Making Music Studio proposal)

I'm sorry to do it, but I insist on a name with a meaning.
Something like the "OpenTracks Studio" I said before.
