Hmm, I think it's best to keep version numbers simple, it's easier for
users. Think about it, it's easier to say "I'm using LMMS 2.0" than it
is to say "I'm using LMMS 3.11.0.68-rc7-beta-1.01c". Especially in
spoken conversation! "What music software are you using?"  "Well, I'm
using LMMS 2.51b.42-pants.358"... "um, can you repeat that?" vs. "oh,
I'm using LMMS one-point-one"... "Ok, gotcha!"

Users should only have to keep track of two numbers. I think the best
would be a simple YY.MM (counting the years from 1 so that 14=1 would be
my preference), and if we have two releases in the same month, we can
just add a .1 or .5 to the end then.

So for example, if this month we release LMMS 1.01, and then release a
quick bugfix release during the same month, that could be 1.01.1 or
1.01.5.
