Hi,

one more thing: changing the versioning scheme for patch releases (e.g.
append or removee a number here and then) is very problematic for
distributions - at least I know that this has been an issue with Debian
based distributions as it breaks upgrade paths.

Concerning including month: I thought about this first as well but if we
don't manage to make a release in a month (and this will happen, especially
during holidays etc) we have a jump in the version number which is not
nice. That's why I proposed quarters. This way we "have to" release at
least once every quarter (which should be doable) but are free to release
as often as we want thanks to the 3rd number. I like the suggestion to
start with 1 for 2014 so the next release will be 1.0.0 - hoorray!! :-)
