Everyone uses widescreens these days. A couple more pixels of horizontal
space isn't a big deal. We can whittle away a few pixels from the label
buttons as well, they're needlessly wide as they are.

What do you mean? It would be precisely useful for the bb-editor. You
would have channel selector for each track just like you have now, only
the selector would be more accessible.
