Hi,

plugins get merged/bundled if they're ready and maintained and that
way become part of an official release. If they're not bundled, you
would have to provide downloads for each architecture OS and OS
version - we had that discussion before as Vesa already pointed out.

If a plugin developer wants to provide individual plugin files for
Win32, Win64, Ubuntu 12.04 i386, Ubuntu 12.04 amd64, Ubuntu 14.04
amd64, Ubuntu 14.04 i386, Mint, SuSE, Fedora, OS X 10.4, OS X 10.5 OS
X 10.6 etc. for the different versions of LMMS out there is free in
doing so. That's however not our problem.

Regarding libstk: it's just another external dependency/library like
fluidsynth, libsamplerate, libsndfile, libogg, ... I don't see why
there should be something special about it. It has to be built like
any other library. BTW the latest version 4.4.4 is from August 2012
(https://ccrma.stanford.edu/software/stk/download.html) so it's far
from being not touched for 7 years. Also things have been working fine
with STK 4.4.x for years now so I don't see a problem if there are no
updates for a while.

Toby
