Well we didn't reach an agreement, but the only argument against: 
"Some people really like doing some file management things with file names
so there might be a small amount of push back on this...  i.e.
zyn_preset_01.xpf = "Blast Off!". In this case, the preset name allows
characters that are invalid on the file system."

I just don't understand it. For me it doesn't make sense, sorry. In LMMS you
can only see the file name... so when you load it an it have another name...
it isn't useful at all. If that were to be useful LMMS should show the
preset name instead! And then idk how you would save the file name. You had
to make a system which removed the bad characters before saving the preset?
