LV2 is a standard for programmers, not for users :).

It's generally not a good idea to store all third party packages in 
source tree, I don't like it.  So, I agree that source tree must be kept 
clean.
What version of ubuntu/kubuntu you are using? I can try to build lv2 
branch here and adopt it to those versions of packages (I think there 
will be no big difference in api).
