Here ya go, bro!  :-)

I reverted and re-integrated the handles into class Strip.

They are now optional with a flag in the 
 Strip, MidiStrip, AudioStrip constructors.

Tested OK. Happy to report hiding/showing strip keeps
 the expanders open.

You should not need to worry about the handles now :-)
There is no expander handle code in amixer.cpp now.
