Can't remember if it was me that did it that way once upon a time. I agree
though, now that arbitrary strips can be hidden the buttons would serve a
better purpose being synced.

Quite true, especially with the new strip menu, I didn't know where to put
it that it would be easy to use, it belongs under View but the navigation
became cumbersome. Buttons would improve things.
