You share that opinion with most of the techies.  And you'll be happy to hear
that this opinion was listened to by the LPI execs.  It isn't official (well,
nothing LPIC-3 related is "official" yet) but it's looking like the 301 exam
will be the core exam and the 302 (that ol' Samba exam) will be a specialty
topic.

This also means that, very likely, more topics than just LDAP (and
integration of LDAP with XYZ) and Capacity Planning will appear in the 301
exam over time (with lots of notice to exam takers ;)).


Also, I'm pushing for, at the LPIC-3 level, a recertification option similar
to other non-profit based certifications like the PMP and CISSP:

Guess what, though?  They both have a 3 year recertification cycle :-D
