Yep folks. Zero Tolerance. This kind of posts is very annoying and in
very bad taste.
In the future ANYONE indulging in this kind of activity will:
1. Be banned from all LPI lists
2. If a registered LPI candidate have a "warning" note posted to their
LPI ID. 3. Ineligible for any discount or voucher offer
4. Other punishments as necessary.
I have added a warning note on subscription to this list.
I'm as much against »this kind of activity« as anybody, but since this *is*
fairly dire and permanent-looking punishment, here are a few thoughts that
occurred to me just now:
- Could you define on this list, for the benefit of long-term list
subscribers, exactly what »this kind of activity« includes?
- Is there still going to be a warning for first-time offenders?
- Will LPI, before actually meting out the punishments listed above,
try to ensure that the offending e-mail has not been forged by
someone else in order to create difficulties for the party in
question?
In many cases, the first language of many of the offenders is not
English. Many of these users participate in these LPI English language
mailing lists.
I'd hope there are some translations of LPI policies to appropriate
human languages, with appropriate changes based on cultural norms w/r/t
such activity.
Thanks,
Mike
Mike:
LPI hosts mailing lists from all over the world. I work with
affiliates from all over the world. I don't know of anywhere that this
"blanket social media invite" is tolerated on a technical list. Its
disrespectful. Show me a place where this is a cultural norm.
